The project
This ranch home on Jackson Rd in Buckingham had worn through its old shingle roof. We replaced it with a standing seam metal roof built to handle Florida heat, sun, and storm season for decades with very little upkeep.
What we did
We inspected the existing shingle roof and the decking underneath, then tore the old roof off down to a sound deck. After replacing any worn decking and laying fresh underlayment, we installed a new standing seam metal roof with clean vertical panels and ridge venting. The property was protected during tear-off and the site was left clean.
Why metal roofing for a Buckingham home
Buckingham sits on the rural east side of Lee County, where homes like this one carry large, low-slope ranch roofs that take the full force of Florida sun and summer storms. Standing seam metal is a strong fit: it reflects heat to keep the house cooler, sheds heavy rain fast, resists wind, and can outlast two shingle roofs with very little maintenance. Common questions
How long does a metal roof last in Buckingham, FL?
A properly installed standing seam metal roof commonly lasts 40 to 50 years or more in Southwest Florida, far longer than the 20 to 30 years you would expect from shingle.
Why replace a shingle roof with metal?
Metal reflects heat, sheds rain quickly, and handles wind far better than aging shingle. On a large ranch roof it also means far less maintenance over the years.
